Capturing TEDxManitoba 2012

While TEDxManitoba is a one-day event, our speaker talk videos live on long after the event as people watch them and share them with others.

Our technical team is committed to capturing these ‘ideas worth spreading’ in the highest possible quality. TEDxManitoba 2012 will be filmed in broadcast quality HD, with multiple cameras. The video, along with speaker presentations will be mixed in post-production to deliver a final video that reflects the spirit of the event, and passion of our speakers.

While the number of attendees at the live event is limited by TED guidelines, our webcast at on February 9th will allow anyone to experience TEDxManitoba 2012 in real time. We are working hard to ensure that this year’s live stream will be delivered at the highest possible quality.

HD Video, multiple camera views, and integration of speaker materials will ensure that our on-line attendees’ experience is as close as possible to being at the venue.

To help us achieve both goals, we’ve issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Event Videography and Live Stream to interested companies. You can download it here.

We’re looking to find that partner (or partners!) that understands the vision of TEDxManitoba, and can bring the resources, skills and experience needed to capture our event in video and online. Proposals are being accepted until 5pm on October 14th.

The Ideal TEDx Speaker

Many will apply, but only a few will be selected to speak at TEDxManitoba 2012. What makes a great TEDx speaker?

It’s a combination of certain characteristics. We seek speakers who inspire others with their “Idea Worth Spreading.” Amazing, Funny, Jaw-Dropping or Beautiful are some of the characteristics we desire. Speakers should be persuasive, ingenious and informative. And should be ready to deliver the most awesome speech they have ever given.

The speakers we need are those who have done something incredible or discovered something astonishing—something they can give to each and every member of our audience. Something they can carry home and use to change the world in their own way.

A deep passion and dedication to a cause, a concept or a journey is within every TEDx speaker. The ideal speaker changes the world around them and will change you as well.

Are you a TEDx speaker?

Do you know a possible TEDx speaker?

Speaker Nominations are Open

For one full day on February 9, 2012 some of Canada’s most unique minds will narrate the journey of their big idea, delivering passion, insight and expertise with a diverse live group of 100 Manitobans (and thousands more through our live stream).

The ideas they share will spread throughout the province and around the world, reformulating our thinking, expanding our viewpoints and changing the world.

TEDxManitoba 2012: February 9, 2012 at the MTC Warehouse

Planning for this year’s TEDxManitoba is well underway, and the organizing committee is proud to be bringing our second annual event to an amazing space with a history of challenging audiences.

(TEDxManitoba 2012 Venue) if x

x=home to engaging, thought-provoking performances in the heart of the Winnipeg.

The Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre (MTC) Warehouse is located in the heart of downtown Winnipeg in the city’s Exchange District, a National Historic Site. MTC Warehouse has long been home to some of the city’s most engaging, thought-provoking performances.

Its role in Manitoba’s theatre community is a natural fit with a TEDx event. It’s home to productions that are often progressive and thought-provoking, and which incite reflection and foster discussion as attendees spill out into the lobby.

Like TED/TEDx events, MTC Warehouse productions often push at the edges of comfort zones, forcing those in attendance to look at themselves in the context of the world they live in.

The size of the space is ideally suited for TEDxManitoba—the intimate nature of both the theatre and the lobby are ideal for attendees and speakers to share ideas. We’re positive that MTC Warehouse will bring added energy to the speakers, the performers and the audience.

Mark your calendars—February 9, 2012 is set to be another amazing TEDxManitoba.

And… We’re back!

On February 15, 2011, TEDxManitoba took place at the Park Theatre—the first TEDx conference in the province, serving up a full day of “ideas worth spreading.” Speaking on the theme of “Emergence,” a truly eclectic, thought provoking and inspiring line-up of presenters brought our intimate group of attendees enough mind-expanding ideas to keep everyone buzzing throughout the day and beyond. Thousands more joined in through our live stream from all across the province and around the world.

We’re back again for 2012 with a whole new theme and a whole new set of possibilities. We’ve been working behind the scenes over the past few months, planning, brainstorming and doing everything we can to push the bar we set last year even higher.

(what) if x

Imagine what can happen when we push ourselves to think about our world in new ways. How many ideas have started with the simple question “what if?” This year, we want to push just past that question to that place where we catch a glimpse of the answers:

(disease eradication) if x

x= no medical patents

(Passenger Air flight) if x

x= aircraft are fully automated

(Commerce) if x

x= compassion is priority

As we start gearing up for TEDxManitoba 2012, we’d like to hear from you. What kinds of talks would you like to see in 2012 using the (what) if x formula?
